Scaling plan

A scaling plan is the rule that increases a funded account's capital as the trader meets profit and time targets. It is how a firm rewards consistency without raising its own risk all at once. Run this calculation now: prop firm target calculator

How it usually works

One common format: every quarter with 10% accumulated profit and at least two payouts taken, capital rises 25%. Another: a fixed increase at each 10% target reached, up to a capital ceiling. Some plans also improve the profit split at each step, from 80% to 90%.

Requirements almost always mix result with behaviour: minimum valid days, no rule breach, and at some firms consistency inside the cap across the whole evaluated period.

The effect on risk

Larger capital at the same risk percentage means larger absolute risk. Many traders who scale well blow up at the first big step because they still think in lots rather than percentages. The correct lot for 50k is the wrong lot for 200k.

Recording the current step, the next target and the eligibility date avoids finding out late that the increase had been available for two months.
