Funded account
A funded account is what the firm releases after the evaluation, with the right to withdraw profit. The money at stake changes; the discipline required changes less than people expect. Run this calculation now: prop firm target calculator
What changes and what stays
A profit split appears, along with a payout cycle and often a scaling plan that raises capital at each target met. Daily and total limits still apply, sometimes tighter than in the evaluation, and the consistency rule usually enters the picture right here.
Many funded accounts remain in a simulated environment, with the firm mirroring results in the live market. That does not change your earnings, but it changes who the counterparty is — worth knowing before signing.
In Brazil the same account is called a conta fundeada, the firm is a mesa proprietária, getting approved is passar na mesa and the whole process is fundeamento. The terms differ; the contract described here does not.
What catches people out
Thirty days of inactivity closes the account in several contracts. Payouts require documents and sometimes days of processing. And the drawdown floor may rise with the withdrawal, leaving the account tighter right after a good cycle.
Keeping those parameters written next to each account, rather than in memory, is the minimum when trading three or four firms at once.
FAQ
What is a funded account?
It is the account a prop firm releases after you pass the evaluation, with the right to withdraw your share of the profit according to the contract.
Can I lose my own money on a funded account?
The capital at risk is the firm's. What comes out of your pocket is the challenge fee, lost when the account is closed for a rule breach — which is why tracking the limits matters.
Is a funded account real money?
At most firms it is not: the account stays simulated and the firm mirrors or covers the result. The payout to the trader is real; the counterparty is the firm, not a broker.
Does the payout split change after scaling?
Often yes: several contracts raise the trader's share as the scaling plan advances. The split in force today is written in your contract, not on the firm's homepage.
