Funded account
A funded account is the account a proprietary trading firm releases once the trader passes the evaluation. It is the same object the contract calls a financed or funded trader account. Read the full funded account page
Funded, funding, financed
Funded account is the everyday term; funding is the process of passing the challenge, signing and receiving the released account. Contracts often use a different word — financed account, funded trader agreement — for exactly the same thing.
Passing the firm and getting funded are the same piece of news: the evaluation is over and the live account begins. It begins with the rules switched on, not off.
What changes once the account is funded
Money changes: profit split and payout requests now exist, with a cycle, a minimum number of valid days and, at many firms, a minimum amount per withdrawal. The consequence of a mistake changes too, because breaking a rule now ends a contract rather than an evaluation fee.
The daily loss limit does not change, the total drawdown does not change and the consistency requirement does not change. That is where most funded accounts die in the first month: the trader treats funding as the end of the test and raises risk the day after approval.
- Profit split and payout cycle start to exist
- Daily limit and total drawdown keep working the same way
- A breach now ends the contract, not just the challenge
FAQ
Is a funded account the same as a financed account?
Yes. Funded is the spoken term, financed is the wording many contracts use. Funding and financing the account describe the same process.
Do the rules relax after you get funded?
No. Daily limit, total drawdown and consistency stay in force on a funded account, and a breach now ends the contract.
